Chief Products WK2 ROCK RAIL (Treads) have been specifically designed to add extra styling to your WK2 ROCK RAILS (Apex Edition). The treads utilise a dual layer design that increases step traction and provides maximum visual impact. The lower plate is Aluminium with a durable powder coat finish, providing a highly corrosion resistant layer that looks great. The upper plate is made from high-strength steel with E-Coat corrosion protection and heavy-duty textured black powder coating. Together they provide a great looking and very durable step tread for the WK2 ROCK RAILS.

    Rock runners and treads

    A very well engineered produce and are truely built to be rock runners as well as looking great. A few things when you go to install them however. Make sure you read through everything to begin with in particular the little special notes for various parts of the job. Don't think you are going to rush the job either, give yourself plenty of time. I did the first side in about 3 hours by myself which was a comfortable amount of time and once I know the little tricks the second side was half that. You will need to go back to the computer a few time to get a closer look at to which way the clamps and some parts go so you know you are getting them in the correct way. You will also have to lean on the tread pattern O or R when you go to screw these down as the clamp rails B sit up proud of the rock runner A before they are screwed down. You may need to put some heavy pressure on the clamp tab to get it down enough to start the fixing bolts. Once started you can work them along the rail and they pull down flat, a solid tap with a drift and hammer on the tabs to make sure they slot down into the relief notch in the rail helps also. The good thing however is that they are a very firm fit and once clamped down do not rattle and are not moving.

    Rails for Summit

    I recently purchased the rock rails for my 2018 WK2 Summit. The installation went fairly well with the exception of the first mounting hole not lining up with the body. The other 5 were fine. I had to grind the slotted holes larger by more than half the diameter of the hole. Also after it was installed I noticed the rails are about 1 inch to short on each end and do not line up with the body. I emailed Chief Products about the issues and they informed me that they design the rails to a certain model WK2 which happens to be not the Summit.

    The over all quality seems to be good, I have not had time to try them out on the trail.
